When did you last pick up a prescription at 32nd and Market? If you've lived in Camp Hill a while, you may still think of that stretch as two drugstores facing each other across Market Street. Neither one has been a drugstore for years. The CVS at 3201 Market St. closed on Aug. 16, 2022. The Rite Aid at 3224 Market St. closed on Aug. 31, 2023, about a year later.
Both buildings were split into several smaller businesses, so where you used to make one errand run there are now about half a dozen reasons to stop. The CVS side finished filling in more than a year ago. The Rite Aid side is still opening one storefront at a time, and this holiday season is the first time most of it will be up and running.
The CVS Side Showed How This Would Go
The former CVS didn't sit empty right away. After it closed, PennLive reported that Spirit Halloween was using the building as a seasonal store. That was a short-term use, but it kept the lights on.
The permanent fix came next. According to a PennLive report from April 2025, the building at 3201 Market St. was renovated, and Oola Bowls and Dental365 both opened inside it. AFC Urgent Care followed as the third tenant. That same report says AFC offers urgent care, flu shots, lab services, X-rays and primary care, and takes walk-ins.
So one pharmacy became a smoothie-bowl counter, a dental office and a walk-in clinic. Those are three different kinds of visits, at different times of day, in a building that used to handle one. That's the approach the building across the street has been following.
The Rite Aid Side, Split Six Ways
The former Rite Aid is on the south side of Market Street, inside borough limits. The Camp Hill Borough Shade Tree Commission took up a permit application for 3224 Market Street at its April 17, 2025 meeting. PennLive reported that the building was redeveloped into a multi-tenant retail center by Landmark Commercial Realty of East Pennsboro Township. In May 2026, PennLive's report on the building said the old store had been divided into six spaces, with five tenants named and one space still for lease.
Here's where each one stands heading into November:
| Tenant | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|
| McAlister's Deli | Sandwich and deli restaurant | Open since Dec. 22, 2025 |
| Southern Steer Butcher | Butcher shop, the chain's first in Pennsylvania | Open daily |
| Paris Baguette | Korean bakery cafe | Due "later this fall" |
| Smoothie King | Smoothies and a food menu | Not yet open |
| Balance Culture | Women-focused fitness studio | Listed as "Opening Fall 2026" |
| Sixth space | Not announced | Available as of May 2026 |
McAlister's opened first, almost a year ago. The butcher opened this summer. PennLive described Southern Steer as a national chain "riding into Camp Hill with its first Pennsylvania location." The other three tenants say they're coming but haven't opened, so the building is about half finished as the holidays start.
The Butcher Counter Is the Holiday Errand Right Now
Of everything at 3224 Market St., the store that matters most for the next month is the one with a meat case. The Southern Steer Camp Hill location page lists hours of 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Its Thanksgiving page lists Camp Hill as a participating shop. The page offers fresh, never-frozen turkeys in several sizes, plus roasts, and says hams and dry-aged roasts are available at select locations. It also notes that pricing and participation can vary by shop. The homemade sides include sausage-infused stuffing, smashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, Joni's Cranberry Casserole, rosemary carrots and Green Beans Almondine.
Here's the fresh turkey pricing listed on the Camp Hill Thanksgiving preorder page:
- 8 to 10 lb: $64.99
- 12 to 14 lb: $93.99
- 16 to 18 lb: $122.99
- 20 to 22 lb: $150.99
- 24 to 26 lb: $179.99
Each size step adds 4 pounds and $29, so the price per pound barely changes. At the middle of each weight range, every bird works out to about $7.20 a pound. A bigger turkey doesn't get cheaper by the pound, so order for the number of people you're actually feeding, plus however many leftovers you want. The preorder page also lists prime rib and tenderloin roasts, ham and holiday sides. The page doesn't show an order cutoff, so call or stop by the Camp Hill shop well before Thanksgiving on Nov. 26 to confirm timing.
What Fills In Next
The rest of the building should open over the coming weeks and months.
Paris Baguette is due "later this fall," according to PennLive's Oct. 20 roundup of central Pennsylvania openings. The menu covers pastries, cakes, doughnuts, croissants, tarts, breads, quiches and croquettes, plus breakfast and lunch sandwiches, salads, coffee drinks and teas. If it opens before December, Market Street gets a bakery cafe just in time for holiday cake season.
Smoothie King is listed for the same address and will serve smoothies plus a Power Eats menu with avocado toast, egg clouds and chicken bites. Its location page still shows the store closed every day of the week.
Balance Culture is a women-focused studio offering barre, Pilates, strength training, yoga and cross-training. PennLive reported it's a Florida company, and this will be its first studio in central Pennsylvania. The studio's Camp Hill page says "Opening Fall 2026."
When all three are open, the old Rite Aid will cover breakfast, lunch, a workout and dinner groceries under one roof. That's the same everyday mix of stops that took over the old CVS across the street.
The Corner Sits at the Start of Camp Hill's Holiday Stretch
